It’s early November, and it’s still relatively balmy (using the term loosely, of course), but winter will be here soon.  Have you thought about winterizing your Hyundai Elantra near Parkville, MD?  No?  Your honesty is admirable, and you need not feel alone.  For many Maryland drivers, winterizing means scrambling to find the window scraper seconds before the first big snow arrives.

But we’re here to make sure you’re ahead of the game.  For starters, have you thought about creating a winter emergency kit?  You don’t need anything radical – save the St. Bernard, brandy keg, and flamethrower for another day.  Just the basics are required, stuff you likely already have around the house.  A flashlight, wiper fluid, antifreeze, an extra hat and gloves, lock de-icer, and a blanket are a good start.

Another important winterization topic is snow tires.  Do you need them?  Can you survive with all-season tires?  The answers depend on how much driving you do and whether you plan on taking your Hyundai sedan or SUV to places renowned for heavy snowfall, i.e. your favorite skiing destination.  If you already own snow tires, you should definitely think about dropping by our Towson, MD Hyundai dealership and having us swap them in for you.  If you don’t own snow tires, they’re probably not a bad investment, especially if you drive every day, rain/snow/sleet/ice/shine.  With snow tires applied, you’ll get better traction, of course, and also better protection against freezing temperatures that can affect the pressure and performance of less durable tires.

As your local Hyundai dealership serving Baltimore, MD we make safety in all weather a top priority. We’d love to talk with you and help winterize your Hyundai vehicle.  Checking your battery and topping off your antifreeze are just two of many things we can do!
